Fair Dinkum Bike Tours

Having just completed a 3 day tour from Cairns to Cooktown a few weeks ago with Fair Dinkum Bike Tours based in Cairns QLD i am writting this to warn any one who might be considering going on one of their trips. Basically I found them to be very unprofessional with no emergency communication device, no sweep rider or corner man system which led to a very stop start ride which is very frustrating, poor choice of tracks and very average accomodation considering the cost of the trip ($1250). They also state on their website that you get a chance to go fishing which didn't happen

I wrote a complaint email to the owner (twice) before i got a response which basically told me i was a liar and stated that he never forced me to go on the trip. Not once has he tried to apologize or shown any concern for my poor experience.

Don't waste your money people it was no better than 3 days on my home tracks with with my mates.

I intend to take the matter to the small claim courts and will keep posting this blog for any one who might be interested in the outcome.

Well I disagree with your comment, I have been on 3 separate tours with them, they have provided everything and more than expected. They run a very good tour, accommodation is good, it is not 5 star but where you go it is still a good bed with great entertainment. The groups I have been with loved it. Cant say more.
Obviously everyone cant be pleased and the cost of the tour is very reasonable.

Cairns 3 day ride with Fair Dinkum Dave

Takamine, Takamine..

Is this the same Dirt Bike Tour Group I rode with 3 months ago?! I found them at www.fairdinkumbiketours.com.au. The group I rode with were absolutely awesome.

Not sure what you mean by average accommodation - what did you expect on a dirt bike ride trip in the tropical wilderness?! There were certainly no fancie schmancie 6* resorts for biker boys.. can you imagine what the honeymooners in the room next door would think if there were 10 dirt bike riders revving their bikes at 8am in the morning?!

And I'm afraid I simply can't believe that they rode without safety gear. My trip back in August was organised to a 'T'.. I felt safe, catered for, welcome, and one of the boys - in fact, I got just what I had signed up for. The riding was challenging and fun and the washing machine was busy for a few days after...

Now, I'm not sure that everyone is into hot chicks and beer but I certainly welcomed the bed and great hospitality provided by Max at the infamous Lion's Den. PKs was good too - hard to beat that beach.

Oh, and I've studied a bit of law so I'd be very interested to see what the small claims court have to say about it.. good luck there.. I don't think there is much in it for you..

I had a wicked time and I'll certainly be back to do the 8 day Cape Ride with Fair Dinkum Bike Tours..

Keep us posted T-man
